Quite a few quilts were finished last year and I'm looking forward to being able to start a few new ones that have been waiting patiently for their turn. So here's to starting off the new year with a brand new project!
First up on the 2014 roster is a quilt
for a couple of hiker friends getting married in September. My goal is to just enjoy the process this year, after a record breaking year of finishes, and that means I don't
want to be cramming for any deadlines!
First there was some cutting. I started with only one leaf block. I like to test new designs to make sure that I like how it looks and that I don't need pieces any bigger.
Then there was some sewing.
This will be a big quilt. Each of the blocks are 14 inches. There will
only be 15 of each, though the exact layout is still under
I was a little worried about how
some of the colors were playing together when I had my face 6 inches
from them at the machine, but after letting them sit I think everything
will work just fine.
One leaf block and two snowball blocks out on my design floor today. I
keep thinking I should make a design wall, but until then, my floor will
have to do.
